SEED Programme: Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS)
Our Sunlun Group of Companies represented by Managing Director, Datuk Philip Lau King Kah was deeply honoured to attend the recent Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and Letter of Intention (LOI) Presentation Ceremony hosted by EPR Mobilus GR JV Sdn Bhd, the official System Package 1 Contractor (SPC1) for Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) Project.
Revolutionizing Transportation
The KUTS Project is currently being implemented in Kuching, Malaysia by Sarawak Metro Sdn Bhd, the first operator in Southeast Asia to adopt the use of revolutionary hydrogen-powered Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) vehicles as backbone of urban public transportation system.
Catalyzing Development
The special event on 1 October 2024 was part of Socio-Economic Enhancement Development (SEED) Programme, Sarawak Metro’s strategic initiative aimed at generating added-value from KUTS Project investments to catalyze local economic growth in Sarawak through development of a modern transportation ecosystem with localized supply chain and skilled human capital.
Fostering Collaboration
Held at Kuching ART Assembly Facility, the event witnessed MOU exchanges with esteemed academic institutions namely Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak and Sarawak Skills, as well as LOI presentations to selected vendors and subcontractors – fostering the spirit of collaboration essential to the success of KUTS Project.
